Whitehorse Canada and Lost Lake Hike

We had the chance to go to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory in Canada this past week.  It was absolutely beautiful!  The scenery was amazing!  Over the summit there are endless little lakes which are incredible!  Since there are so many, they’ve been named Summit Lakes.  Also over the summit the fog was thick and the clouds were low which is normal for how high the summit is so we were able to capture a couple awesome pictures for everyone!  It was such a great day trip to get food and see part of Canada!  The food selection in the markets are infinitely better than in Skagway.  We didn’t even look at prices of produce because we were just so happy to see produce that we bought it no matter the price!  Here are a few pictures for you all to enjoy!Alaska 114

This is Emerald Lake in Canada.  The colors are so vibrant!  Deep blue, blue-green and even white! Alaska 124Alaska 125

This is our cute friend Sheena who gave us a ride up to Whitehorse with her golf tour!  Its the only ride we had up! Alaska 126 Alaska 127

Always and awkward picture for the road…Alaska 128 Alaska 129

See…?                                 Alaska 130

Next are a few pictures of one of the smallest deserts in the world!  It was insane to see so much sand all in one place!  It was old sand from under a glacier and when the glacier melted, the wind took the sand and deposited it all in the same area due to the canyons and peaks nearby.                  Alaska 131 Alaska 132 Alaska 133

This is Bove Island, one amazing sight!  I want to get out to it and have our own little “Survivor” there.  Or just a good game of steal the flag.                            Alaska 135 Alaska 138

Yes…a couple more awkward ones for ya.  I’m afraid the person taking our pictures was a bit worried about us. Alaska 139 Alaska 141 Alaska 143

This is our hike to Lost Lake.  The sign says it is only 1.2 miles so we thought we’d at least try.  We’d been told that it was a steep hike so we were prepared for it.  But in the description of the hike it should have said, “Length 1.2 miles.  Feels like 10 miles.”  I’m not kidding, our legs were on fire by the time we reached the top!  I bet we were climbing at a good 35 degree angle most of the way!  It was short, but intensely short.  Well worth it, as you can see from our pictures.  Alaska 149

Here I stand with our friend Ryan from our branch here in Skagway.Alaska 151

This is our version of a good, medieval meal: bread, apples, and “wine” or fruit punch. I guess we’re missing the cheese! We thought ourselves pretty creative.
